Can’t make deals
Ten contracts expire at Hannover 96 next summer. But the players have to be patient, as managing director Martin Kind has suspended negotiations until they can be relegated. This complicates the work of sports director Marcus Mann, who can “prepare things but not yet close deals” (quoted via “sports buzzer“). After the 29th matchday, the Reds are in 14th place in the table, seven points ahead of the relegation rank.
Affected from the current squad are Mike Frantz (35), Dominik Kaiser (33), Philipp Ochs (24), Mark Diemers (28), Marcel Franke (29), Niklas Hult (32), Marc Lamti (21), Marlon Sinnermann (23), Linton Maina (22) and Maximilian Beier (19), whose working papers all end. However, the future seems clearer for the latter two than for the others. While Maina is about to say goodbye after four years at the club – the winger was recently courted by FC Augsburg, among others – the loan with Beier is to be extended. With six goals, the loan from TSG Hoffenheim in the current season is one of the few bright spots in the ailing second division and recently raised hopes of staying beyond the summer.

96 is looking for reinforcements in the German market: Wolfsburg’s Bialek in sight?
For Mann it is now important to prepare extensions but above all deals about new signings in order to be able to act immediately in the event of relegation. The sports director looks around without “finalizing anything now”. When it comes to potential additions, his focus is “always on the German market first,” explained the 38-year-old. A rumor from Poland from “Viaplay Sport” would fit in with this, according to which the Lower Saxony are interested in Bartosz Bialek from VfL Wolfsburg. Accordingly, the 20-year-old attacker could be loaned out in the coming season.

The Polish U21 national player, who was signed in 2020 for 5 million euros, has strong competition in the “Wolves” in the center of the attack with Jonas Wind (23) and Lukas Nmecha (23). This season he has only played 127 minutes in eight games, also due to injury. His contract runs until 2024.
In addition to 96, two other second division clubs Bialek are said to have targeted Schalke 04 and 1. FC Nürnberg. It’s not the first time the right footer has been linked with the Royal Blues. He was traded at S04 two years ago, but decided on Wolfsburg. In the future, he could act as a backup for top striker Simon Terodde (34), whose working paper was recently extended.
