Negative advice for solar park in Hollandscheveld: too little support from local residents

The company Emission Projects wants to build a solar park of 2.5 hectares along the A37 near Hollandscheveld. The plans have been around for a while and have been available for inspection for some time. Only the Municipal Executive of Hoogeveen advises the municipal council not to grant a permit. There would be too little support from local residents.

And that is precisely one of the conditions for realizing the solar park. The impact would be too great for some of the local residents. The distance between the park and the houses is very small. Something that can cause problems according to the municipality. Earlier in the process, Emission Projects already tried to align with local residents about this, but according to the municipality this has not been sufficiently successful.

The arrival of the park should contribute to the goal of being climate neutral by 2040. Hoogeveen therefore already has several sunbathing areas in the area, such as the parks at Pesse and Fluitenberg. The energy that can be generated at the intended location in Hollandscheveld must be sufficient to supply about a thousand households with electricity.

The city council will be informed about the plans during the council meeting on Thursday 6 October. Whether the council actually adopts the council’s advice will become clear later. A decision will have to be made on December 8.
