Nearly half of fatal car accidents happen without a second party, at night and on the highway. And alcohol is not the only cause

In 52 percent of fatal crashes involving a motorist, no second party is involved. This is evident from a study by VIAS, the Belgian knowledge center for road safety. VIAS investigated when and where these single-vehicle accidents most often occur, and also offers solutions: “Of course you cannot pack every bridge pillar with cushions.”
