Nearly 650 kilos of fireworks found at home in Roosendaal

On Thursday, the police found almost 650 kilos of fireworks in a house at the Dijkcentrum in Roosendaal. Officers took a look after an anonymous tip came in. Because the fireworks were also being tinkered with, the Defense Explosives Clearance Service (EOD) had to be involved.

The anonymous tipster had indicated that a lot of professional fireworks were stored in the house. When the police visited the resident of the house in the afternoon, she pointed out where the fireworks were.

After that, she indicated several times that there were no other fireworks in the house. Yet more and more was found in the house. In total, the agents found 645 kilos.

Explosives defused
The Explosives Scouts Team was called up because there was a dangerous situation. The EOD then defused the explosives.

The municipality of Roosendaal has imposed a penalty of 10,000 euros on the residents. If they are guilty of illegally storing fireworks again, they will have to pay this amount.

Fifty kilos of illegal fireworks in the car
The same day, three Belgians were caught on the A16 at Zevenbergschen Hoek. They had fifty kilograms of illegal fireworks in their car, including cobras and avalanche arrows.
