Nearly 22,000 trains canceled in the first half of the year: passengers suffer from a staff shortage NMBS

Between the beginning of January and the end of June, 21,856 trains were canceled on the Belgian rail network, the highest figure in five years. More than 8,200 of them were lost completely, 13,600 others for part of the planned train journey. This is apparent from a data analysis by De Tijd and L’Echo based on public figures from railway network operator Infrabel. The canceled trains are the result of structural personnel shortages.
