Nearly 170 trees felled for the renovation of sports park Odoorn

Nearly 170 trees between the football field of HOVC and the tennis park of OKKO in Odoorn will be cut down for the upcoming renovation. This is evident from a permit that has been requested from the municipality of Borger-Odoorn. It concerns 107 oaks, 56 birches, 5 alders and 1 willow.

The sports park will undergo a major renovation from next year, with the entire Harm Kuiper Sports Park being overhauled. The total costs amount to almost 3.8 million euros. The clubs are responsible for 350,000 euros of the renovation.

“The trees around the edges of the sports park will remain,” says HOVC chairman Harold Enting. “It mainly concerns the part between the tennis courts and the football fields. The new club building of the tennis association will be built there.”

New trees and hedges will be planted around the parking lot. In December there will be information meetings for the members of the associations and residents of the village.
