76-59 victory and fifth university title for the Huskies: 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Malian big man
After 6 games and 240 minutes of domination from March to April, Connecticut confirmed its NCAA champion by beating San Diego 76-59 in the final. “We knew we were the best team in the tournament and we just had to play at our level,” said Dan Hurley, the third head coach after Jim Calhoun and Kevin Ollie to win the NCAA title. The best player award went to Malian center Adama Sanogo, 17 points and 10 rebounds in the final. Also for Tristen Newton double double with 19 points and 10 rebounds.
