The US rapper NBA YoungBoy feels betrayed by his label “Atlantic Records”. His frustration is great – so great that he also shared his frustration on social media and obviously railed against the label. He also advised other artists to stay away from “Atlantic Records”.
The rapper accuses his label of not playing fair. His mixtape COLORS recently hit #2 on the Billboard charts, according to YoungBoy. He grumbled on Instagram: “I was going #1 two weeks straight with a mixtape so they took it down off the charts”. And further: “I don’t give af**k you still can’t stop me don’t sign to Atlantic if you an artist they not gone support you especially if you live a certain way.”
It’s also not the first time the rapper has gotten angry about his label. In an interview last December with YouTuber DJ Akademiks, there were already first signs of the conflicted relationship between the two parties. The fact that the crisis was already there can be corroborated by the following statement: “They won’t come back to me because I don’t try to hear the shit they have to say.” He also added that he was no longer interested more interested in working with the label beyond the contractual agreements.
His fans also accused “Atlantic Records” on Instagram of temporarily removing the mixtape from all streaming services. They also attempted to claim the rapper’s master artwork from the label.
NBA YoungBoy is currently sentenced to house arrest pending his next trial. Among other things, an arrest warrant was issued against the rapper for illegal possession of weapons and narcotics. While the rapper was serving his sentence last year, his most recently released album, SINCERELY, KENTRELL, topped the Billboard charts.
