As expected, French basketball star Rudy Gobert has joined the Minnesota Timberwolves in the North American professional league NBA.
Wolves confirmed on Wednesday they had acquired the 30-year-old in exchange for four players from their roster, drafting rights to center Walker Kessler and five first-round picks between 2023 and 2029.
Center Gobert, who was named the NBA’s top defensive player three times, announced on social media last Saturday that he was leaving the Utah Jazz after nine years.
Gobert is set to sign a five-year contract in Minnesota worth a total of $205 million. The best rebounder of the past season meets another big man feared across the league at the Wolves in Karl-Anthony Towns. The Stifle Tower has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $224 million contract extension.
