NBA star Chris Paul threatens week-long break

Basketball star Chris Paul is threatened with a long absence in the North American professional league NBA.

The 36-year-old point guard suffered an avulsion fracture on his right thumb just before the All Star weekend in Cleveland and, according to several media reports, will be out for six to eight weeks.

So it could be tight for Paul, who is running for the best NBA team, the Phoenix Suns, even until the start of the playoffs in mid-April.

At the All Star Game on Sunday evening (local time), Paul made a symbolic two-minute effort despite his injury. With 48 wins and only ten defeats so far, the Phoenix Suns are by far the most successful team in the strongest basketball league in the world.

Paul is considered a key player for the Arizona team, who are among the title favorites. The previous year, the Suns had reached the finals of the NBA and had only been inferior to the Milwaukee Bucks there.
