National basketball team captain Dennis Schröder could play for the Los Angeles Lakers again for the new season in the North American professional league NBA.
According to a report by US journalist Marc Stein, the currently unemployed 28-year-old is “a legitimate consideration” for the Lakers.
Schröder already played for LeBron James’ team in 2020/21, but then reportedly turned down a well-paid contract extension. As a result, the international ran for the Boston Celtics and the Houston Rockets.
Schröder, who is currently with the national team, has not recently commented on his future in the NBA. The retired star Dirk Nowitzki is confident that Schröder will still find a club. “I think he’s talented enough to still play at the top of the NBA. He just has to find a suitable club. I hope he’ll show his skills then,” said Nowitzki to the German Press Agency.
