Game-3 without history in the Heat house, in a “normal” evening for Butler the supporting actors take care of showing off monstrous performances: it is 3-0 in the series. Disastrous Tatum and Brown in the Celtics: 1/14 from three
Heat-Celtics 128-102 (3-0 in series)
Miami comes one step away from the Finals thanks to the huge success of a race-3 dominated far and wide. A performance with absolutely embarrassing contours for the Celtics who never fight, show a truly annoying attitude at times and are once again crushed by the discipline and verve of coach Spoelstra’s troop.
The match
—
The Heat don’t even need overtime from their leader Jimmy Butler, who is satisfied with an average performance (16 points and 8 rebounds) given that once again someone from Miami’s luxury “undrafted” group is starting to do superstar stuff. This time the limelight is stolen by an unstoppable Vincent (29 points) and a Robinson (22) who is appreciated not only for the house specialty, the long-range shot, but also for a series of penetrations and discharges that they send Boston’s distracted defense into a tailspin. On the other hand, in a back-to-the-wall game, Boston would have needed an important performance from its two leaders, instead both Tatum (1/7 from three) and Brown (0/7 from long range) hit the block sensationally .
The key
—
The difference in intensity of the two teams can be seen right from the start. Miami keeps concentration very high and fights for all the balls, Boston takes triples without rhythm and immediately gets into trouble offensively. The home team, with the baskets of the couple Martin-Vincent, accelerates in the final part of the first quarter and takes over the reins of the match. A few flashes of Tatum and a couple of plays by White seem to be able to bring the guests back on track but it is only an illusion. Butler takes care of it, with the collaboration from the bench of a Robinson who in this postseason seems to be a player found, to push back Boston which thus arrives at the interval below 15 points after having produced a disappointing first half.
No reaction
—
A reaction from the team is expected which risks going down 0-3, instead Miami immediately takes away interest in the match by placing the partial of 28-7 which brings the hosts to +33 and knocks out the Celtics. Boston doesn’t find the slightest answer, coach Mazzulla is totally helpless and the Heat have fun, turning the second half into a Miami monologue. Boston doesn’t even try to show a minimum of pride, closing the third quarter late by 30 points and, with the reserves on the field, makes the fourth quarter a long and boring garbage time. The Celtics already seem to have their heads on vacation and to extend the series they will have to go and win game 4 in Miami on Tuesday evening. It will not be an easy undertaking.
