In the first game against Golden State, Dallas found no response against the Warriors’ defense, with the visitors hitting just 36 percent of their shots from the field and 23 percent of their three-pointers.
Doncic not as effective as usual
Even superstar Luka Doncic could not build on his previously strong performance. With 20 points, the Slovenian was the Mavs’ top scorer, but lost the ball seven times and only had two points after the break.
“We defended superbly. You have to defend in different ways against Doncic – he’s too good,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr.
Offensively, the Warriors convinced with balance: seven players scored double digits, Warriors star Stephen Curry led his team with 21 points and twelve rebounds. For the Mavs, German international Maxi Kleber recorded three points and three rebounds.
