Basketball world champion Daniel Theis beat the outstanding superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo in his first appearance of the season with the Indiana Pacers.
The Pacers defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference with 126:124, the German national player contributed two points in eight minutes. Despite his strong World Cup, the center had previously languished on the bench without playing and had only played minutes in one preparatory game.
Antetokounmpo with points and errors
Antetokounmpo achieved a record of 54 points in the young NBA season, but was unable to prevent his Bucks from going bankrupt. The Greek missed his personal record from the previous season by just one point.
In total, the two-time MVP also lost eight turnovers against the Pacers, two of them in the hard-fought final minute.
Wagner brothers lose to Atlanta
Despite personally strong performances with the Orlando Magic, the Wagner brothers Franz and Moritz suffered a bitter 119:120 defeat against the Atlanta Hawks. Franz Wagner had given Orlando a 119:117 lead in the final minute before Dejounte Murray countered again with a three-pointer 31 seconds before the end.
In total, the 22-year-old German international scored twelve points, six rebounds and three assists. Brother Moritz also impressed with 13 points and seven rebounds. After their second defeat in a row, the Magic have a balanced record after eight games of the season.
