The point guard, who just moved from Phoenix to Washington, is traded by Golden State for Poole and some lottery picks. And now the Green case awaits
A few hours after the draft comes the trade you don’t expect. The Warriors, grappling with the transition to the post-Bob Myers management level, beat the competition from the Clippers and bring to San Francisco Chris Paul, who recently moved to the Wizards. The Californian franchise then gets the experience of the 38-year-old CP3 by sending Jordan Poole’s complicated contract to Washington, a first pick in 2030, a second pick in 2027 and Ryan Rollins. A “win now” move for Golden State which also serves to streamline the club’s Salary Cap from 2024 onwards considering that Poole, returning from a disappointing year, and above all a postseason, had signed a four-year extension from 128 millions.
THAT TITLE THAT IS MISSING
—
The acquisition of Paul, and the farewell to Jordan Poole, seem to send a clear message to Draymond Green who, after having exercised the “opt-out” clause and becoming a free agent, it seemed he could also try a new adventure away from San Francisco. Now the market operation orchestrated by the new General Manager of the Warriors Mike Dunleavy Jr. lays the foundations for a renewal with one of the symbolic players of the Golden State dynasty. Paul, after the ups and downs of the last season in Phoenix, returns to a contender to thus continue the hunt for his first NBA title.
