Zr.Ms. Holland has just left Den Helder for the eastern part of the Mediterranean. The patrol ship can provide support there in the event of evacuations from the region. Another option is to contribute to a maritime corridor with allies. For example, humanitarian aid can be obtained in Gaza via the sea. The Holland is expected to arrive in a week and a half.

The ship includes a maritime NH90 helicopter from the Defense Helicopter Command. Zr.Ms. Holland also has 2 fast FRISC interceptor boats. There is also a small additional marine unit on board. Deployment is coordinated with international partners. The duration depends on current developments.

The Netherlands has been in Cyprus for some time. There is a C-130 transport aircraft as well as a rapidly deployable Marine Corps unit. They are ready in case there is a need to evacuate from the region. According to the current planning, they will be ready until the end of this year.

Monitor the situation

The government is closely monitoring the situation surrounding the armed conflict between Israel and Hamas. The battle has a major impact on the population of both Israel and the Palestinian territories. The situation is particularly serious in Gaza. Residents here urgently need humanitarian aid.
