Navalny’s mother has seen his body: “They want to bury him secretly” | Abroad

The mother of the recently deceased Russian Putin critic Alexei Navalny (47), Lyudmila Navalnaya, says she has seen his body. According to her, Russian officials are trying to force her to hold the funeral at a certain time and day. This was reported by the Reuters news agency.

Russia would like to bury her son “in secret”, “without the possibility of mourning”. If she doesn’t agree, they threaten to “do something” to his body. She accuses Russian investigators of blackmail.

Yesterday, Navalnaya filed a lawsuit against Russian authorities to force them to release her son’s body. “I appeal to you, Vladimir Putin. The solution to the problem lies only with you. Finally let me see my son. I ask that Alexey’s body be released without delay so that I can bury him humanely,” the mother previously pleaded in a video message to President Vladimir Putin.

Unclear cause of death

Alexei Navalny died last Friday in his cell in the Siberian penal colony where he was being held. The biggest opponent of Russian President Vladimir Putin served a prison sentence of more than thirty years for ‘extremism’. Prison authorities claimed Navalny collapsed after a walk, but Navalny’s team believes the opponent was killed on Putin’s orders and claims the Kremlin “tried to hide” his body.
