And that should come as no surprise: Van Aert was one of the trendsetters in the last Tour de France, with the green jersey and three stage victories. In Roeselare they expect 35,000 spectators, not only for Van Aert, but also for the British Tom Pidcock and Yves Lampaert from West Flanders.

Lampaert: “The criterion is actually preceded by a time trial and so I can put on my yellow jersey again for that round. It will be great. A nice memory of the Tour, where I was leader after the first day. I hope for many fans, because I actually race in my own region.”
