The North Atlantic Alliance will support Ukraine in every possible way as a valuable partner. This statement was made by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.
“We are ready to help (Ukraine – ed.), But you need to understand that we are talking about a valuable partner, not an ally,” the NATO Secretary General said at a press conference in Brussels on Friday, January 7.
According to Stoltenberg, Ukraine cannot pose a threat to Russia. To argue this is the same as “turning a problem inside out,” he stressed.
As Stoltenberg noted, Ukraine is a “sovereign, independent nation” that “has the right to defend itself.”
“This right is enshrined in the UN Charter. When Ukraine is threatened, everyone understands that Ukraine will step up its efforts to be able to defend itself. And NATO allies provide support,” he said.
As for Russia, according to Stoltenberg, she “occupied part of Ukrainian territory and continues destabilize Donbass“.
Moreover, he stressed: if the negotiations with Russia on security issues fail, NATO will prepare “for Russia’s aggression against Ukraine”…
