Rıza Kayaalp defeated the Ukrainian Oleksandr Chernetskyy 5-1 in the Greco-Roman style 130 kilos, and also defeated Alin Alexuc 8-0 in the quarter-finals. Kayaalp defeated Uzbek Muminjon Abdullaev 5-3 in the semi-finals and made his mark in the final. Reza will face Iranian Amin Mirzazadeh in the final. If the successful athlete wins the championship, he will write his name in history as the first Turkish wrestler to win the championship for the 5th time.
Competing in Greco-Roman style 60 kg, national wrestler Kerem Kamal defeated Uzbek Ilkhom Bakhromov with 9-0 technical superiority in the first round, and Iranian Mehdi Seifollah Mohsen Nejad with a pin in the second round. The national wrestler lost 6-3 to Japanese Kenichiro Fumita in the quarterfinals and said goodbye to the tournament.
Elvira Kamaloğlu in the women’s 55 kg category was defeated by the last Olympic champion, Japanese Mayu Mukaida, with technical superiority in the first round. Kamaloğlu got the repechage right as Mukaida advanced to the final. National wrestler Yağmur Çakmak defeated Israeli Nataliia Shafir Mazur with technical superiority in her first match at 62 kg. Cakmak lost to Ukrainian Ilona Prokopevniuk by button in the second round.
