At the European Weightlifting Championship held in Bulgaria, Onur Demirci won the silver medal in the men’s 109 kilo clean and jerk with his 207 kilo lift.
In the evening session of the eighth day of the championship held in the capital Sofia, Muhammed Emin Burun and Onur Demirci, two of the crescent-star athletes in the 109 kilo category, took to the podium.
In the clean and jerk, national athlete Onur Demirci won the silver medal with his lift of 207 kilograms, while the national athlete ranked fourth in total with 375 kilograms.
Muhammed Emin, one of the star and crescent weightlifters, ranked 11th in the clean and jerk with his lift of 191 kilos, and eighth in total with 357 kilos.
In the clean and jerk, Dadash Dadashbaylı from Azerbaijan came first with 212 kilos, and this athlete won the first place with 388 kilos in total. In total, Hristo Hristov from Bulgaria took second place with 380 kilos.
In clean and jerk, Matthaeus Hofmann from Germany took third place with his lift of 206 kilos, and in total, this athlete took third place again with 378 kilos.
Thus, national athletes have won a total of 21 medals in the championship so far, including 5 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze.
