National team | Voting: Choose the DFB’s dream team against France

Football Germany has to shake itself once again after the clear and deserved 1:4 (1:2) against Japan – without national coach Hansi Flick, who was fired on Sunday. But the national team’s next important European Championship test is coming up against France on Tuesday (9 p.m.). Which players should be in the starting line-up? Who belongs on the bench? Vote now in the sport.de voting!

The DFB pulled the ripcord and released Hansi Flick. “This is not an easy moment for me, because I joined the DFB in February to support Hansi Flick with all my options, to keep his back free so that he can be successful in sport,” said sports director Rudi Völler in a statement.

He “firmly believed that as national coach he could get our national team back on track,” added the former team boss (2000 to 2004).

But after the 1:4 (1:2) embarrassment against Japan, “we have to say today that we didn’t succeed.” The slap “clearly showed us that we can no longer make any progress in this constellation,” emphasized Völler, who played against runner-up world champion France on Tuesday (9:00 p.m. / ARD) in Dortmund together with the U20 coaches Hannes Wolf and Sandro Wagner standing on the sidelines.

How should the national team perform against France?

The new coaching trio has to get the defensive under control against France. Hansi Flick had relied on a back four with Nico Schotterbeck, Niklas Süle (both BVB), Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid) and Joshua Kimmich (FC Bayern).

Especially in the first round, the plan against the fast Japanese didn’t work at all. Schlotterbeck made several mistakes and his defensive colleagues also wobbled a lot. Should a new defensive formation be formed against France? Or should the classic four-man chain be given another chance to prove itself?

Who should provide more penetration in the attack? Should Thomas Müller play in the center of the attack?

One thing is clear: the DFB team has to show a significant improvement in performance if the next bitter defeat against the reigning runner-up world champions is not to follow.

The Équipe Tricolore won their European Championship qualifier against Ireland 2-0 (1-0) last Thursday. In Group B, France is the undisputed leader after five wins from five games.
