From now on, privately organized fan clubs can also be founded and get tickets for the national team. The DFB wants to “promote a more authentic fan culture”.

The “National Team Fan Club”, which according to the association has more than 55,000 members in its 20th year of existence, has lost its monopoly position. The German Football Association (DFB) announced on Friday (November 3rd, 2023) that private fan clubs can register immediately.

“This includes the possibility of specifying ticket requests for home and away international matches and tournaments from 2024, even without membership in the official ‘National Team Fan Club’.”

The association will also hold a ticket contingent for independent clubs for the European Championship in Germany from June 14 to July 14, 2024.

“More active, more authentic fan culture”

Further innovations are to be implemented over the next year. The association announced two dialogue formats with fans. Both organized fans and fan representatives from clubs as well as from the support group of the national team fan club, fan representatives and employees of fan projects were involved in the development of the realignment.

“By opening up independent fan clubs, we are setting out to promote a more active, authentic fan culture”said Steffen Simon, DFB Director of Communication, Sustainability and Fans: “We are taking the 2024 European Championships at home as an opportunity to realign fan work with the national teams and open it up to everyone.”
