A pupil of IKC de Springplank reads the winning poem of the National Committee 4 and 5 May. Afterwards there is an opportunity to walk past the monument and possibly lay flowers yourself.
Depending on the weather, a number of aircraft from the Rotterdam Aero Club (RAC) fly over the Wilhelminapark. One of the planes gives a salute, in tribute to the fallen and killed

Memorial cruise
On Wednesday 3 May you can join the tour boat de Meervaarder for an interesting memorial trip. The Jolly Duck plane crashed in the Geerpolder in 1945. The cruise heads towards that spot while listening to the story about gunner John McCormick. Together with other crew, he committed himself to the liberation of Zoetermeer. Unfortunately, they all did not survive this accident.
The memorial trips are on Wednesday 3 May at 1.30 pm and 3.30 pm. The cruise takes about an hour and there is a short walk to the war memorial. Tickets cost 9 euros per person and 4 euros for children up to 13 years. Order them here. The jetty of the Meervaarder is at Farm ‘t Geertje.
