VfB Stuttgart remains active: After the signing of Mo Dahoud, the club has now tied down a top performer on a long-term basis.
National player Chris Führich has extended his contract with VfB Stuttgart for another three years until June 30, 2028. The Bundesliga club announced this on Thursday. The offensive man is one of the Swabians’ “most important players,” said sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth.
“He consistently trains and plays at a very high level.” The extension had become apparent. On Monday, several media outlets reported a breakthrough in the contract negotiations.
Führich moved from second division club SC Paderborn to VfB in the summer of 2021. In the current season, the 26-year-old is one of the top performers for Stuttgart, who are surprisingly in third place in the table and will compete in the national duel against SC Freiburg on Saturday (3:30 p.m. in the t-online live ticker). Last October, Führich played his first international match for the national team.
In addition to the signing of Mo Dahoud, this is good news for VfB. What was less encouraging was that central defender Dan-Axel Zagadou suffered an lateral ligament injury and a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee during training on Wednesday. The 24-year-old will be out for the rest of the season.
