Shortly after midnight, 96-year-old British former soldier Marie Scott lit the National Liberation Fire in Wageningen. She did this together with mayor Floor Vermeulen. About 1700 relay runners from 87 municipalities then spread the flame to dozens of municipalities in the country for Liberation Day.
