Things are going really well in the NHL for Moritz Seider and the Detroit Red Wings; the playoffs are realistic after a goal festival against the Washington Capitals. For three other German national ice hockey players, however, there is little positive.
The Detroit Red Wings around national ice hockey player Moritz Seider have extended their winning streak in the NHL to six wins and increased their chances of participating in the playoffs.
In the 8:3 win against the Washington Capitals, the defender prepared a goal and played a part in the Red Wings scoring more goals in a game than they have in seven years. The young team around Seider and attacker Lucas Raymond, who had three scorer points with one goal and two assists, is hoping for its first playoff participation after seven years without a place in the knockout round. The success against the direct competitor from the US capital was therefore particularly valuable.
National players JJ Peterka, Tim Stützle and Nico Sturm, on the other hand, have no realistic chances of making it to the most important phase of the season.
Peterka and the Buffalo Sabers lost 2:3 against the Florida Panthers, and Stützle and the Ottawa Senators lost 1:4 against the Nashville Predators. Sturm gave the San José Sharks the lead with his fourth goal of the season, but they still lost 7-2 to the New Jersey Devils.
