National football team: ex-world footballer to succeed Bierhoff

According to a media report, former world footballer Nadine Kessler is to succeed Oliver Bierhoff at the German Football Association and become the new managing director.

The 35-year-old should take responsibility for the DFB academy and national teams, as reported by the Munich “Abendzeitung”.

The newspaper wrote that the talks between Kessler and the DFB were well advanced and that the contracts were currently being drawn up.

The DFB did not want to comment on this when asked by dpa. The former international Kessler is currently working as a department head at the European Football Union UEFA.
