The Steenberger Park could be a lot cleaner, thinks IVN Hoogeveen. That is why she is joining the National Clean-up Day. Under this heading, there are now clean-up campaigns everywhere in the Netherlands.
The entire park free of litter: that is the goal of the cleaning day in the Steenberger Park. Volunteers roll up their sleeves to remove the beer caps, packaging, cans and other rubbish. There is quite a bit, which is why a clearing round was already made on Wednesday afternoon with children from BSO De Holle Boom. It is the ideal time to collect the waste: before the grass grows taller and the plants overgrow the waste.
Grietje Loof of IVN Hoogeveen is pleasantly surprised by the clean-up anger of the team of about twenty children. “It makes a difference anyway. They are children from the area, they also play here. With what they have seen today they may think: ‘hey it’s nice if we clean up a bit more often’, that would be nice .” Ideas have already been exchanged with the supervisors of the BSO to repeat the clean-up campaign every month.
