Natacha Harlequin thinks that RTL 4 makes really nasty television with Expeditie Robinson. She joins her colleague Iris van Lunenburg, who was kicked out in the first episode yesterday.
The new season of Expeditie Robinson started last night on RTL 4 and one of the candidates, Iris van Lunenburg, immediately had to leave the field. After the broadcast she sat at the desk Show news and she still visibly struggled with it. “I really started it with the best intentions.”
Iris is bummed
Iris had expected something completely different. “I wanted to get out of my bubble, I had been ill for a while, life is too short, I thought: I’m going to do something else. I thought: fun with a group, we’re going to do it together. Unfortunately, other people thought otherwise.”
The TV personality has learned her lesson. “I found it really intense to see and when I watched it back, I also felt pretty bad and sad. Next time I get out of my bubble, I’ll go skydiving.”
Island too full
Presenter Airen Mylene: “It was the first day, you just arrive on the island and then it was ‘too full’ and you had to leave immediately.”
Colleague Natacha Harlequin thinks it’s disgusting. “And that… So I want to say something about that. I really didn’t enjoy watching it at all. I never watch Expedition, so I thought: I’m going to watch it now. And then I thought: but you haven’t been able to show anything yet. It was also suddenly the case that people had to leave.”
Nasty television
It’s just nasty television, says Natacha. “I also didn’t like to watch it, I also found it painful, not pleasant and not fair either. I didn’t like it at all.”
Does Iris know why she had to leave so quickly? No. “That was not clear. What you say, Natacha: I’ve had tons of messages from viewers, all of them saying, “This just wasn’t fun to watch at all, and it wasn’t fun either.” I’m really cheerful and you can still see me saying to those people: ‘Good luck, huh?’ Really super naive.”
Different kind of people
Iris also had no connection with the other participants, who she says are “a different kind of people.” “This was maybe a bit more towards the actors, youtubers, influencers and instagrammers.”
Natacha: “Iris, I have to be honest with you: at what point did you think they really do things together at Expedition?”
Iris: “You have to do those tests together! You have to be able to rely on each other there. I have to say that I really misjudged it. It was also a personal goal of mine: I was finally healthy again, my body was doing well again, I’m enjoying sports again. But I really misjudged how mean people are.”
She concludes: “I watched it and thought, oh, I don’t like this at all. I don’t know if I’m going to watch the rest.”
