NASDAQ value Tesla share: Announcement of Powerwall 3 – More power and new technology

The American car manufacturer Tesla is best known for its cars and the controversies surrounding CEO Elon Musk. However, in addition to electric cars, the company also builds battery storage and photovoltaic systems. The Powerwall is an electricity storage device from Tesla and there is some news there.

Powerwall Discounts: New Powerwall 3 Model

The Powerwall is an energy storage system that automatically detects when there are power outages. So if the actual power grid fails, the Powerwall intervenes. As Tesla explains on the product page, customers can become more independent of the public power grid. The Powerwall can also be monitored and controlled via the Tesla app.

Since August 2023, Tesla has been offering a discount on the installation of Powerwall batteries in some countries. Customers who install their Powerwall(s) between August 11, 2023 and December 31, 2023 and then register them will qualify for a discount of 450 euros per Powerwall. The price of the Powerwall 2 is currently just under 11,000 euros, with all additional costs and installation already included. However, the exact price can vary depending on the individual situation and the provider. It is possible to install either a single Powerwall or several at the same time. Once the Powerwall installation is complete and it has been successfully connected to the internet and registered, customers can easily submit their discount application via the Tesla app. After verification, Tesla will transfer the discount granted to the customer’s specified bank account, as the carmaker explains on its website. As the Tesla news portal teslamag.de reports, it is now clear why the company is giving these discounts: There is a new version of the electricity storage system, the Powerwall 3.

Higher performance and integrated inverter: The new Tesla Powerwall

The Powerwall 3, explains Tesla, has an integrated inverter that allows direct connection of solar energy for high efficiency. The performance of the new Powerwall has also increased. So far, the teslamag.de article describes, the Tesla battery has been able to deliver up to 10 kilowatts at its peak. Now 11.5 kilowatts should be possible permanently. The solar-Experten.de portal calls the inverter a game changer that makes installation and more efficient energy conversion possible. The new Powerwall 3 is also resistant to dust and waterproof. The Powerwall 3 could also be expanded at any time to add up to 40.5 kWh per unit, according to a report from the online portal energytheory.de. On the other hand, the Powerwall 2 is compatible with various solar inverters and can be installed both as part of a new solar system and independently, this is not possible with the Powerwall 3. The new model is only intended for new projects, but not for expansions of existing systems.

Tesla has also slightly redesigned the exterior of the Powerwall 3 to make it more compact but heavier compared to its predecessor.
