NASDAQ title Tesla share: Alliance demonstrates in Grünheide against Tesla expansion plans

A protest alliance demonstrated on Saturday against the planned expansion of the Tesla factory in Grünheide.

With a blue ribbon as a symbol of water protection, the protesters opposed the electric car manufacturer’s expansion plans. They warn against expanding the plant because part of the site is in a water protection area.

According to the “Turn off Tesla” alliance, around 250 people from Brandenburg and Berlin took part in the protest at Fangschleuse train station on Saturday. The refugee and climate activist Carola Rackete also took part in a rally at Fangschleuse train station, the association said. Rackete is an independent candidate for the European elections in June.

Tesla wants to double production in Grünheide from the targeted 500,000 cars a year to one million a year. The company submitted applications for an environmental permit to the state of Brandenburg for the plant expansion. According to its own information, the company does not plan to use any additional water for the expansion and does not expect any danger to the groundwater. The development plan for the expansion is still pending.

In addition, the Fangschleuse train station should be moved closer to Tesla. Trees have already been felled for the laying work./mow/DP/mis
