The following is a list of the new functions that Tesla owners will automatically have installed on their vehicles. While some features can be classified as “nice to have”, there are also innovations that many Tesla drivers have been hoping for for a long time.
Your own closing sounds, podcasts and fun for the back seat
Tesla names “Custom Lock Sounds” as the first new feature in the holiday update. Drivers can now set an individual sound that sounds when the vehicle is locked. In addition to a “jingle”, “applause” or the sound of an old-fashioned horn, the cry of a goat is also available as a closing sound.
If you sit in the back seat of the Tesla, the software update will provide you with additional functions: An existing screen is now available for games and film or series streaming. “Parents, rejoice,” Tesla introduces the new feature on X, which also enables the use of wireless Bluetooth headphones.
The car manufacturer is also providing updates for the games “Beach Buggy”, “Polytopia” and “Vampire Survivors” and is making a new game, “Castle Doombad”, available on the rear screens.
In addition, podcasts have now found their way into Tesla’s entertainment system: Anyone who wants to listen to their favorite podcast in the car without having to pair an external device with the vehicle can now do so after a software update.
Route planning and navigation made easy
The Tesla mobile app also comes with a route planner. So if you want to plan your route from anywhere, including various stops, you can now do this with your smartphone and then send the route to the Tesla vehicle.
While driving, Tesla owners also have access to speed cameras, stop signs and traffic lights, which are now displayed in the navigation.
New security features
Tesla is also giving drivers new safety features via the Holiday Update. Some of these concern the cameras installed in the vehicles: When the turn signal is switched on, a warning is now given if an object or vehicle is detected in the blind spot. There are also other so-called “live sentry cameras” that now make it possible to have access to the cameras in the left and right pillars when viewing the vehicle’s surroundings in the Tesla app, and thus a total of seven camera angles.
If the Tesla is involved in an accident in which the airbag is triggered, drivers can also hope for faster help with the update: In such a case, the vehicle will now automatically dial the emergency call.
High Fidelity Park Assist
A function that Tesla drivers have been hoping for for some time is now also being rolled out with the software update: the new High Fidelity Park Assist. Tesla announces the new parking function on X with the words: “See 3D when parking -Reconstruction of your surroundings”, a photo follows in which you can see the possibilities of the new parking assistant. Tesla drivers can now see various vehicles and objects around their vehicle in 3D. This view was apparently reconstructed from the data provided by individual Tesla cameras.
The Holiday Update brings with it a number of more or less useful features for Tesla fans. However, the electric car manufacturer points out that the availability of the functions depends on both the vehicle model and the region in which the vehicle is traveling.
