The Eintracht Frankfurt women are one step closer to the Champions League. The Hessians prevailed against the Czech representative Slovacko. Lara Prasnikar became the match winner.
The Eintracht Frankfurt women took the first hurdle on their way to the Champions League on Wednesday evening against the Czech representative 1. FC Slovacko. In the semi-finals of the Champions League mini-tournament, the Hessians prevailed 1-0 (1-0) at Brentanobad. Goalscorer of the day was already in round one Lara Prasnikar (24th).
Prasnikar strikes for redeeming guidance
Coach Niko Arnautis only relied on one new player in Pia-Sophie Wolter, who came from VfL Wolfsburg. The core of the team has stayed together despite a few departures. The Hessians met Slovacko in a 4-4-2 and immediately started boldly.
Nicole Anyomi should often be the center of attention. The industrious attacker missed after just four minutes from close range. Prasnikar did better after 24 minutes, completing a nice play after a cross from Wolter and thus providing great relief.
Anyomi could have extended the lead but her shot was scraped off the line at the last second (27′). The hosts missed out on extending their lead, and more than 3,000 fans went into the dressing room to make it 1-0.
Eintracht Frankfurt women miss three times per head
The second half started with a top chance, but Tanja Pawollek failed after a free kick with a head on goalkeeper Barbora Ruzickova and the crossbar (50th). After a cross from Geraldine Reuteler – also with a header – Prasnikar narrowly missed the opposing goal (63′). And after a corner, the Frankfurt women again had a great opportunity with a header, but Pawollek’s attempt was cleared before the line (74′).
Much more didn’t happen, the harmless Czechs didn’t even come dangerously in front of the goal. Juventus Turin is thus the opponent in the final of this UWCL mini-tournament on Saturday (1 p.m.). The “Old Lady” confidently asserted themselves 6-0 against Okzheptes (Kazakhstan) on Wednesday afternoon.
