Narrow loss after thriller for debuting volleyball players from Huizen in the Eredivisie

PDK Huizen started the adventure in the Eredivisie with a defeat. The Huizers made their debut at the highest level on Saturday in an attractive sports hall Wolfskamer. The volleyball players of trainer Teun Buijs had to go after an exciting final phase recognize their superior in VCN from Capelle aan den IJssel (2-3).

The opening phase was a close battle. Still, the visitors from Capelle aan den IJssel won the first set 21-25. After that, Huizen showed a better, different side. The fanatic crowd gathered in droves behind the team. Partly because of this, the second (25-15) and third set (25-18) were won convincingly.

Exciting fifth set

Unfortunately for the spectators of the home team, VCN managed to turn their backs. The visitors were masters in the fourth set, 2-2. As a result, everything came down to a fifth and decisive set. Huizen slowly gained the upper hand in that final phase. For a long time a victory seemed within reach, but they still drew the short straw: 14-16.

Not scoreless

Huizen will not start the competition without a score. The two sets won give the volleyball players of trainer Teun Buijs one point.

Next week the volleyball club from the Gooi will play their first away game of the competition. The club will then visit ZVH from Zevenhuizen.
