March 8, 2024 (changed at 10.50pm) – NAPLES

Torino returns from Maradona with a significant point, which will not immediately give a big boost in the standings but which has its own importance: it will help to increase morale, confidence and self-esteem. Napoli, on the other hand, hits the grenade wall and fails to achieve their third consecutive victory in the championship. The advance of the twenty-eighth day ends one by one: Kvaratskhelia opens, Sanabria brings the score back to parity with a beautiful overhead kick. It all happens in the second half, the evening ends with boos from the home crowd.

protagonist goalkeepers

At Maradona we don’t see a first part of the evening dedicated to spectacular football. Naples and Turin travel in gusts: grenades set on a more conservative match strategy with the aim of destroying the game plans of Calzona’s team. The Azzurri, on the other hand, lit up too little and too often at times, trying to build a game that rarely succeeded. The result was a rather blocked, ugly first half, in which all in all the balance was broken due to individual errors with the two goalkeepers who took center stage. Above all, the Granata Milinkovic is the author of two result-saving interventions. The first in the 14th minute: Linetty’s mistake on an easy pass in midfield, Politano intercepts and flies away, jumps Masina and serves Kvara (missed by Djidji): Vanja closes the shot. He repeats himself in the 43rd minute this time on a header by Kvara (again lost by Djidji) on a serve again by Politano. In the middle, Toro doesn’t take advantage of the great opportunity given to him by a lucky rebound between Lobotka and Zielinski: Zapata has the right reflexes when kicking, but a formidable Meret finds himself in his way. Zero-nil at half-time.

question and answer

At the start of the second half, Napoli found the breakthrough that unlocked the balance. Minute number sixteen Mario Rui goes on the left, crosses to the center of the area where Djidji misses Kvara’s mark for the third time. But this time the Georgian is a sentence: 1-0 Napoli. Juric (from the stands) immediately calls Pellegri back and the Sanabria card is played. After three minutes, Sanabria scored the equalizer with a bicycle kick, taking advantage of a rebound between Anguissa and Juan Jesus. With a quarter of an hour to go, Djidji gets injured and Sazonov comes on in his place. In the final, Napoli pushes and tries to crush Toro who, however, resists, supported by good defensive solidity and a couple of excellent reflexes (again) from Milinkovic.
