Napoli-Milan, the precedents are with Spalletti

Clash at the top in Serie A: the Rossoneri struggled in the last direct clashes in the league, but in 2020 they won in Campania

Clash at the top of the Serie A standings. On the one hand, Napoli, fresh from the last minute victory on the Lazio field; on the other, AC Milan, which comes from three consecutive draws between Salernitana, Udinese (in the league) and Inter (Coppa Italia). Important points from a championship point of view in the direct clash on Sunday evening: Inter, at -2 from both Napoli and Milan, will be involved in the twenty-eighth day of the championship with Salernitana (kick-off on Friday 4 March at 8.45 pm).

LATEST RESULTS

There is a rather sensational data in the precedents between the two teams: the Rossoneri have won only one of the last 14 Serie A matches with the Azzurri. In this set they suffered eight defeats, including the last two in order of time (both ended 0-1). But the last intersection smiles at Milan, protagonist of a success in the last match played in Naples against the Neapolitans (3-1 on November 22, 2020). Il Diavolo hasn’t won two games in a row on the Napoli pitch in the league since 1981. As Oddschecker points out, considering all the competitions (including, therefore, the Italian Cup), in the last 10 matches between these two teams there have been four victories for the Azzurri and two for the Rossoneri, with four draws.

Napoli and Milan will compete on Sunday at Maradona for the 149th time, the 74th at the Azzurri’s home. The general performance is quite balanced: 44 the Neapolitan successes, 55 those of the Rossoneri, 48 the draws. At Napoli the balance is overturned, with 28 wins by the Azzurri and 22 by the Devil. As Oddschecker points out, Luciano Spalletti has won his last three matches against Milan: in addition to the 1-0 in the first leg, the coach had the better of the last two derbies on the Inter bench (1-0 and 3- 2 in the 2018/19 season). In the last 10 matches against the Rossoneri, Spalletti has lost only once and won on eight occasions.

The situation is less defined on the odds relating to the number of goals. Under and Over 2.5 have practically the same probability of occurring: 57.8% and 50% respectively. Finally, the operators believe that neither of the two teams in the race can remain dry within the 90 ‘: the Gol sign has 60.6% of occurrence, the No Gol boasts a percentage of 47.6%.
