Napoli-Bari: Luigi De Laurentiis responds to Aurelio

The red and white president: “Bari is our second team? I want to believe that his words have been misinterpreted.” Then comes the clarification from the Napoli owner: “I was misunderstood”

“There’s no point in beating around the bush: I must dissociate myself from the statements made by my father, president of the other Filmauro team. Just as a son doesn’t always think like his father, it can happen that two partners don’t share the same corporate vision. I want believe that my father’s words were misinterpreted or that he himself did not express himself clearly, because obviously it is not possible to talk about Bari by declassifying them as the second team in the group, not only because it is not true but, moreover, it does not do justice to the history of this square”. Thus Luigi De Laurentiis, president of Bari, after his father Aurelio, president of Napoli, in a press conference defined Bari, of which he is the owner, “our second team”. And again: “My first team is Bari and as long as I am here I will defend its interests, honor and colours, with intellectual and moral honesty and with commitment towards anyone”, concludes De Laurentiis while the sporting square and in ferment. The municipal group of Brothers of Italy has announced a press conference on the issue for tomorrow.

mayor

Even the mayor of Bari, Antonio Decaro, had reacted by asking for an apology from Aurelio De Laurentiis, before Luigi’s intervention. “In any case – continues De Laurentiis -, misunderstanding or not, what happened actually demonstrates the total autonomy that exists between the two corporate entities. Because if the president of the other team in the group had managed the organization of Bari, if he knew how our youth sector works, if he had personally followed the creation of this corporate structure dedicated to ambitious projects, he certainly would not have talked about a ‘second team'”.

Apologies

In the evening, the patron Aurelio De Laurentiis said: “In reference to the critical statements made towards me by the mayor of Bari Decaro, a person I respect and appreciate, regarding today’s press conference, I want to point out that my words on Bari were misunderstood. I think that owning two teams, in two different categories, is simply an added value for both. This was the meaning of my reasoning.” And again: “Bari is led by my son Luigi De Laurentiis in total autonomy and was one step away from Serie A just seven months ago. The goal of ownership is to take it as high as possible. If my words offended the fans, I’m sorry.”
