Naples fans continue party marathon

SSC Napoli fans have continued their party marathon after winning the first Scudetto in 33 years. After the 1-0 (0-0) win against AC Fiorentina in their first home game as the newly crowned champions, the supporters celebrated their team in the stadium – and especially in the streets of the city.

The fans set off smoke bombs and firecrackers, they sang and danced in the squares and streets of the center. There were car parades and horn concerts along the sea promenade to the main train station.

Motorcyclists drove through the city with the blue flags of Naples. All the important monuments of the city were illuminated in blue. “I’ve seen a flag with my face on it, it’s never happened to me. I’m looking for the person who made it, I’d like to buy it,” joked champion coach Luciano Spalletti.

Argentina striker Giovanni Simeone, son of coach Diego Simeone, celebrated his side’s victory. “After Maradona, I’m the second Argentine to win the Scudetto with Napoli. It’s a huge joy, I can’t believe it yet,” said Simeone.
