Naples, accelerated for the renewal of Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia

Victor expires in 2025, the Georgian in 2027, the English clubs are lurking, but the two put the blue club in first place. So De Laurentiis and Giuntoli…

President Aurelio De Laurentiis has spoken clearly about the team and the future of his jewels, assuring that the budgets in order allow Napoli not to need – like most of the top Italian clubs – to sell players. All true, but there are two such shining jewels – Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia – which are becoming increasingly coveted in the Premier League. However, we are talking about a very unequal fight, because the turnovers of the big English clubs are even quadruple or quintuple of those of Napoli and it is logical that the economic disparity creates such a gap as to be very difficult for any club to bear the impact of the offers. In January Chelsea spent 221 million on just two players, Argentine world champion midfielder Enzo Fernandez (121) and Ukrainian striker Mudryk (100). When there are such properties, which don’t even care about financial fair play, everything gets complicated.

The strategy

Where money doesn’t come, intelligence and creativity can. The same with which Napoli built a competitive team last summer also in the Champions League, even managing to cut the wage bill by 30 percent. And so for some time the sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has been in dialogue with the respective agents, to ensure that there is a unity of purpose. At the moment the Nigerian and the Georgian are happy to be in Naples and show their intention to stay there beyond this season. And also the behavior of the respective agents – Roberto Calenda and Mamuka Jugheli – has so far been transparent and in harmony with the club. Here, then, what should be the scenarios that open up.

Victor beyond the limits

The centre-forward’s season is amazing. Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to open an auction. But beyond the boatload of money that can make anyone’s head spin, Osimhen doesn’t have to run away from anything today: because he’s doing very well in Naples, and he would go to the Premier League to try and win it, as well as the Champions League. The current expiry of the contract is still long enough, 2025, and protects the club from temptations. But Giuntoli is ready to sit down with Calenda in the summer, because if Victor stays he will aim to extend his contract by at least a year. The center forward is already outside the parameters set by De Laurentiis (no more than 3.5 million euros net per player): with the 4.5 received, which could rise a bit with rich bonuses, which would allow the player to remain calm and the club to sign a renewal, still taking advantage of the “growth decree” on tax exemption, because Victor had a daughter in Italy and can buy a residential apartment, conditions set by law.

Kvara doubles

The situation is different for the Georgian, who has a very long contract (2027), but a “low” salary especially considering the sirens that will approach and could distract him. Agent Jugheli has so far denied any interest, also demonstrating that he is in tune with Napoli. He knows that as soon as the season is over there will be time to sit down, discuss a salary that will double – from 1.2 million net today, to around 2.5 – and it will also be an opportunity to set aside a five-year deadline and therefore extend until 2028. These are the assumptions. Then the madness of this football without rules does not give any certainty.
