In 2023, Namdi Collins returned to his training association Borussia Dortmund and hired at Eintracht Frankfurt – a step with which the 21 -year -old international is satisfied, even if he canceled big clubs such as FC Chelsea and Manchester City in his youth.
“Back then I really wanted to pack it at BVB. Back then I only had eyes for Dortmund, that was my dream,” said Collins in a “kicker” double interview with his SGE teammate Nathaniel Brown. “But then came the move to Frankfurt, which I am very happy about.”
With regard to the decision against BVB and for Eintracht Frankfurt, Collins said: “It was not so easy. At Eintracht, communication is always very open and transparent. I am a guy who needs honesty to know what I am and where I have to improve.”
There were also many conversations in Dortmund, Collins said, “but I was never specifically told: ‘You can do it better by doing this or that.'”
He does not push frustration because of this, there are no evil blood compared to BVB. “I always performed, kept my mouth in my youth. I am not a guy who pours and says that he doesn’t feel like it anymore. I also played in the 3. League and always gave it full throttle. But I am far from kicking off against anyone. Because the time in Dortmund was also an educational time that I don’t want to miss,” said Collins.
First striker, then as a defender to BVB
Curious: Before the defense player moved to the BVB junior department in 2016, he was at home in a completely different position. “I used to be a striker at Fortuna Düsseldorf. In a game against BVB, however, I ran up as a central defender, so they scouted me. So that was also a coincidence.”

With the black and yellow, Collins then played consistently in the defense center. “I was only used as a right -back at Eintracht in the professional area”.
Most recently, coach Dino Toppmöller ordered the Youngster backwards. “I am always happy when I am on the pitch. The experiences as a right -back do me very well. It’s always cool when you can play several positions. If I should go back to right, I would be happy to do so,” said Collins.
