If the Nederlandse Aardolie Maatschappij (NAM) starts selling parts, this will have no consequences for the handling of earthquake damage. This is what State Secretary Vijl wrote to the House of Representatives.
PvdA MP Henk Nijboer from Groningen had asked parliamentary questions about the possible sale of NAM, with its head office in Assen.
The NAM has put smaller gas and oil fields up for sale. The oil field in Schoonebeek is also on offer. The PvdA in the House of Representatives was afraid that this would also cut up the payment of earthquake damage into pieces. According to Vijlbrief, this is not the case.
According to Vijlbrief, the Groningen field and the gas storage in Norg and Grijpskerk will remain entirely part of the NAM. As a result, the handling of claims and the reinforcement of homes remains as it is currently organized.
NAM announced in September that it was in no hurry to sell the small onshore oil and gas fields. First, the company wants to get rid of its activities at sea, the so-called offshore.
