If that’s true? National coach Nagelsmann is supposed to clarify his future before the European Championships. At least that’s what Sky reports – and also claims to know further details.
It wasn’t even a year ago that Julian Nagelsmann had to resign from FC Bayern Munich. On March 24, 2023, the then club bosses Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidžić announced the resignation of the then trainer at the German soccer record champions.
A lot has happened since then: Thomas Tuchel took over Bayern, saved the German championship with the team in the last game of the season and Nagelsmann became national coach.
What’s next for Nagelsmann?
How long he has been doing this job is unclear. The reason for his future decision is the course of the home European Championship in the summer. Since then, supposed experts and insiders have been outdoing each other in predicting the further development of Nagelsmann’s career.
However, one thing seemed to be clear: the coach will most likely only announce a decision about his future after the German team’s European Championship games. However, Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg now claims that Nagelsmann has a different plan.
“Julian Nagelsmann wants to make a decision about his future before the European Championships. He wants to have peace and quiet at the European Championships and avoid all these questions, concentrate fully on European Championship success and is of course aiming for the maximum goal: that European Championship,” the journalist claimed on Monday evening.
“And now it comes: At best, he wants to announce the new club before the European Championships,” Plettenberg added – with the following addition: “The current trend, I would say, is not to extend the DFB. But that is very relevant information . He wants to say before the European Championships: I’ll be a coach here or there or maybe I’ll remain the national coach.”
Even returning to Bayern doesn’t seem impossible
Plettenberg also commented on possible destinations for the national coach after the European Championships. “Dortmund is definitely up to Julian Nagelsmann and we have to say: he also has supporters at FC Bayern.” “We listened carefully again,” said Plettenberg.
In addition, moving abroad is “always an option” for Nagelsmann. At the end of his remarks, the Sky journalist becomes a bit cryptic: “We talked about it: Barcelona, Liverpool – something is becoming available everywhere. But Dortmund can be very interesting.”
