A debutant for the German national team: national coach Julian Nagelsmann has apparently nominated Bayern young star Aleksandar Pavlović for the upcoming international matches against France and the Netherlands. This is reported by the “Bild” newspaper. Accordingly, a Bayern veteran has to stay at home for the 19-year-old whiz kid: Leon Goretzka is said not to have been called up for the test matches.
The decision against Goretzka comes as quite a surprise, as the 29-year-old has been in improved form recently. With the nomination of Pavlović, an important step should be taken to bind the talent to the DFB in the long term. Pavlović could also play for Serbia, the Serbian association is trying to get him.
Goretzka with a lot of praise for Pavlović
It was Goretzka, of all people, who recently promoted the DFB: “It’s a decision that everyone has to make for themselves,” said Goretzka, referring to Pavlović. “But if I could give Aleks a recommendation, I would choose the DFB if I were him,” said the midfield star. “I’m a big fan of Aleks, who is playing with total freedom at the moment,” he praised his young Bayern colleague. “That’s really good for me personally. It’s fun to see how he’s currently enjoying every second,” said Goretzka in an interview with t-online.
However, the two will probably not be able to act as a duo with the national team for the time being.
