At the beginning of the year, the DFB extended the contract with Julian Nagelsmann until 2028. But now it is clear: the coach could turn its back on the association earlier.

Julian Nagelsmann could leave the German Football Association just a year after the 2026 World Cup-this is reported by the Pay TV station Sky. According to this, the new contract of the national coach includes a written exit clause that allows a change in the summer of 2027.

A possible step back into club football would be conceivable before the 2028 European Championship in Great Britain and Ireland. The transfer fee due for this should be between seven and 8.5 million euros.

Nagelsmann took over the German national team in 2023 and last year at the European Championship in their own country to the quarter -finals. Previously, the 37-year-old had worked in the Bundesliga at TSG Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and FC Bayern. He has never ruled out a return to club football.

According to the report, Nagelsmann’s focus should currently be on the DFB. He had only extended his contract with the association in January to 2028. With the national team, he had last qualified for the Nations League final. The semi -finals will take place on June 4th in Munich. The opponent of the German selection is Portugal.
