Munich (AP) – Julian Nagelsmann continues to rely on Niklas Süle at FC Bayern, even if the national soccer player will leave the German record champions at the end of the season for Borussia Dortmund.
“I understand one or the other critical comment from the fans that he shouldn’t be allowed to play anymore. But there are normal processes in football,” said the Bayern coach in Munich ahead of the upcoming Bundesliga game at VfL Bochum.
“Unfortunately, players sometimes leave us on a free transfer,” Nagelsmann remarked. “But we must all be aware that the player will still get money from Bayern Munich until June 30 and that we should take advantage of his qualities.”
Nagelsmann did not want to evaluate Sule’s decision against a contract extension in Munich and for the move to Bayern’s rival BVB. He does not know all the motives of the 26-year-old. “I’m sad that he won’t be there next year,” said the coach.
Nagelsmann still expects “full throttle” from Süle
Nagelsmann formulated a clear task for Süle: “In terms of character, I expect him to fulfill his duty to throw everything in, go full throttle and have this absolute greed until the last day at Bayern, that we are successful and win the titles. ” It could also be a motivating situation for Süle, “that you throw everything in for the four months and win everything”.
Speaking to the Bayern fans, Nagelsmann remarked: “Unfortunately, in football, players sometimes switch to places where you don’t find it particularly good as a fan. The other way around, we sometimes get players from clubs where the fans are then I think it’s very good that we brought players from this club. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.” World footballer and top scorer Robert Lewandowski switched from Borussia Dortmund to FC Bayern on a free transfer in 2014.
