Nadine Visser breaks with Asser coach Bart Bennema after ten years

ATHLETICS – After a disappointing season, athlete Nadine Visser has ended the collaboration with coach Bart Bennema from Assen. The 27-year-old Visser, who specializes in short hurdles, worked with him for ten years.

“This is a very difficult decision after working together for so long. I am so grateful to Bart for every year in which I have developed from a young and inexperienced all-around athlete to the hurdler that I am today,” Visser wrote on social media. “We have had many highs and lows in the past ten years. I wish Bart the best and I am curious what next season will bring me.”

Visser was not fast enough at the end of July at the World Cup in Eugene for a place in the final of the 100 meter hurdles. Last year she finished fifth in that distance at the Olympics. At the end of August, Visser also disappointed at the European Championships in Munich, where she finished fourth in the final.

Visser tore her left hamstring at the Dutch National Indoor Championships in February and as a result missed the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade. There was a tear in the muscle in the same place as the year before. That injury had ensured that she could not prepare optimally for the Games in Tokyo. She also did not have ideal preparation for the World Cup this year.

Bennema also worked with Dafne Schippers in the past. That partnership ended in October of last year.
