“In contrast to the pandemic year one, Nada was able to almost reach the number of samples from 2019 – i.e. before Covid-19”said Nada CEO Andrea Gotzmann at a digital press conference on the 2021 annual balance sheet. “In the overall result, the number of controls was only slightly below these numbers.”
Overall, Nada arranged 12,659 controls with 16,153 samples last year. Of these, 8,114 tests with 11,148 samples were taken in training and 4,545 tests and 5,005 samples in competitions. “The number of training controls in 2021 was even 13 percent higher than before the pandemic, whereas these control numbers were also lower due to the cancellation of numerous competitions.”explained Gotzmann.
The controls identified 68 possible anti-doping rule violations.
