NAC is doing good business in the play-offs thanks to a penalty kick

NAC Breda won the home game in the first round of the play-offs for promotion to the Eredivisie against MVV. In Breda, the team of coach Peter Hyballa won 1-0 through a penalty kick. The return is in Maastricht on Saturday.

The match between the numbers five and six from the Kitchen Champion Division was preceded by a minute’s silence in memory of NAC club icon Hans van den Dungen. After that, both teams started the play-offs and NAC was certainly stronger in the initial phase, but there were no great opportunities.

Shortly before the break, the home team received a penalty after a foul by Matteo Waem on Odysseus Velanas. Velanas himself shot in from eleven yards. At MVV, Clint Essers still had to be replaced after an injury.

Occasionally dangerous
In the second half, the visitors occasionally became dangerous, but the greatest opportunities were for NAC. Jort van der Sande seemed to make it 2-0, but referee Alex Bos disallowed the goal for offside. A header from the attacker was then only just stopped by goalkeeper Romain Matthys.

A goal by substitute Mart Remans on the other side was also canceled due to offside.
