Roads and Traffic will start a study next month together with the city of Bruges to see what is possible. For example, whether there should be a service road to reach the nearby gas station. What is certain is that the study does not take the intersection in Lissewege into account. Dirk De fauw, mayor of Bruges: “From Flanders, from AWV, it is clearly stated: the cost for this intervention is too high. Because we are asking for an open trench with bridges or a tunnel to be provided here. In 2011, more than ten years ago, this was already estimated at EUR 100 million and it is now undoubtedly EUR 150 million. These resources are currently not available at Flemish level.”
